The question you should ask yourself is not “When will a data loss accident occur?” The question on your lips should be “Am I prepared, am I protected against a data loss accident?” You see, you never know when something bad might happen and you might end up losing your data. That is why it is important to back up your files, your folders, or even your entire drives. You can easily do that with RealTimeBackup, an application offered by GBelectronics.

A modern PC will have no problems meeting this backup solution’s system requirements: 1.5GHz processor or better (2GHz processor recommended), 512 MB of RAM memory or more (1GB recommended), 1280x800 graphic resolution, internet connection, Windows operating system, enough free disk space for your backups.

A simple setup wizard will help you install RealTimeBackup in the language of your choice (English or German) on a PC powered by anything from Windows XP SP3 onward.

The application’s interface is divided into two panels. The one to the left presents all the backup jobs you created. Place the mouse cursor on top of a job and detailed info about it will be presented in the panel to the right. Above these two panels there’s a ribbon with buttons for adding new jobs, deleting existing jobs, and more.

There are several options for creating backup jobs. You can pick a predefined backup job or you can go with a user-defined backup job. When defining a backup job, you will get to go through the following 5 steps:
Step 1 – select the files and folders you want to back up.
Step 2 – specify which files and folders you want to exclude.
Step 3 – specify where the files and folders will be backed up and choose a backup type.
Step 4 – create a schedule for the backup job.
Step 5 – give the backup job a priority level and assign it a file name.

There are two RealTimeBackup editions to choose from: RealTimeBackup Standard and RealTimeBackup Professional. When you launch the RealTimeBackup trial you will be asked which edition you want to try. You can thus evaluate the Standard as well as the Professional edition.

RealTimeBackup runs in the background and without eating too much computing power, it does as instructed: it backs up the files you selected to the location you indicated.

Pros

The RealTimeBackup system requirements aren’t that high; you can easily install the application on a Windows-powered machine. Support for English and German is provided. Several color themes are available for the interface. You can choose between predefined and user-defined backup jobs. Creating backup jobs is a simple matter. There are two RealTimeBackup editions to choose from; the trial version allows you to test both editions.
